Orthonyxia (nail bracing) is a non-surgical, painless podiatric treatment for ingrown or involuted (curved) toenails that uses small, tensioned wires or composite braces to lift nail edges, relieving pressure and pain. It acts as a “brace” to guide healthy, straighter growth, providing immediate relief and allowing normal activity without recovery time.
The nail is cleaned, and a wire or adhesive brace is attached across the surface, typically taking about 30 minutes.
Patients often feel relief from pain within the first week or two as the pressure on the skin is reduced. The duration of orthonyxia is about 6 months, depending on the time required for the complete regrowth of the patient’s nail plate.
Regular follow-up is carried out by the pedologist throughout this period in order to analyze the progress of the treatment.
Please note that whether brace correction is necessary is decided by the therapist.
Important:
Ingrown toenail treatment is not included in the price;
Not suitable for acute, severely infected, or highly inflamed ingrown nails.
